In this weeks journal post I summarise what I have learnt over the duration of my first module and critically reflect on the practises of application development I embarked upon and what I will take forwards into the next study block.
This morning I spent some time streamlining my test driven development workflow. After reading and watching many tutorials on Web Development, TDD and Laravel there have been a couple of things that I’ve seen glimpses of and thought to myself “how did you get that so quickly?” or “where did that come from?”. This morning I take a moment to work it out and implement the methods myself.
From this weeks material I learnt the key phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), two different approaches to application development; Waterfall and Agile, and reflected on how I make my applications and what I could do better.
Communities of practise are a great place to learn and be inspired. This week I take stock of the places to which I can go for support in my app development career. Reflecting on the areas of application development to which I most need that support and where I might be able to get it.
This week I take a look at the broad range of emerging technologies and attempt to reflect on how I might be able to leverage them as part of my working practise.
In this weeks journal post I will discuss the progress I have made implementing Test Driven Development into my App Jam project (Timeline) and reflect on some of the challenges and obstacles I overcame.
This weeks material was led by Professor Tanya Krzywinska and offered suggestions to making meaningful and creative applications. There were two distinct areas for further study that I drew from this content.
This week I took a deeper dive into market research and understanding my audience, linking the last three weeks research together, and gathering the significance that each has with each other.
From this weeks source material, I learnt the importance of market research and it’s relevances to the different types of applications that can be made. It has reaffirmed the importance to understand who the market is, their demographic and their relevance towards the applications I wish to make whilst also making sure to take note of whether their needs are currently being met by competition and if so how?
